Akira Amano is probably my favourite mangaka. I really like all three of their major series, even if the protagonist is essentially the same in all of them haha.
It’s been a goal of mine for almost 10 years now to try and read Katekyo Hitman Reborn in Japanese. I dropped the scanlations during the final arc (I don’t even rmb why…) so I’d like to finish the series and find out how it ends. With 42 volumes though, it’s a pretty lofty goal and this is my third time attempting the challenge, the first two times I never even got all the way through volume 1 😂
The original Viz release only covered the first 16 volumes and must be well out of print by now. And it looks like Viz has no plans of publishing what they did translate as ebooks ☹️ So hopefully I won’t get into too much trouble by (shoddily) translating bits and pieces as I make my way through the series.
It feels kind of fitting that a story (kind of) about a home tutor is what I’m using to try and study Japanese 😁 Luckily this is self-study so I don’t need to worry about being blown up by trigger-happy babies.
Summaries
Target 1 – That Person Arrives From Italy
Reborn appears, Tsuna wins his duel with the creepy kendo guy via a terrible pun-terpretation of kendo rules.
Target 2 – Unable to Use the Dying Will Bullet
Tsuna is pathetic, Gokudera sneaks around in the shadows.
Target 3 – Hayato Gokudera
Gokudera appears with way too much dynamite.
Target 4 – Dropping Out Of School Crisis
Tsuna and his teacher both have/had bad grades, Gokudera is a smarty-pants.
Target 5 – Takeshi Yamamoto
Yamamoto appears and suffers from low self-confidence 😟
Target 6 – Russian Roulette
Kyoko lectures Tsuna’s mum while only in her underwear, also destroys his house.
Target 7 – Crybaby Lambo
Lambo appears, gets owned by Reborn (over and over and over) and cries a lot.
