I didn’t realise this was by the IM mangaka until about halfway through 😶
A comedy premise, but set in a very bleak world… The first couple of chapters weren’t that compelling, but I definitely became a lot more interested once the demon’s former sister was introduced.
A comedy premise…but really a very tragic ending. I see what Morishita-sensei was going for, but I had some questions that prevented me from accepting that ending.
Unrelated to the ending – I felt like they didn’t explain Shoddy being unable to turn into a demon to my satisfaction. As for the ending – I don’t understand how Shoddy was able to command the demons. So despite sacrificing himself, I felt like it was without guarantee that he had destroyed the system he was fighting against.
After IM, I was excited for Morishita-sensei’s next work. I thought this was ok. Looks like their current serialisation is in a Kodansha magazine so I’ve already given up on ever seeing that one in English 🙃
