Manga Plus: Stan for Salvation Chapters 1-19 Review

I’m sad! I didn’t realise this was ranking so badly!

I gotta say, I’m a sucker for manga that include visual kei 😅 So I really loved the premise that the demon’s VK band was so popular the Gate of Gehenna was in danger of opening. Angels forming an idol unit seemed like such a logical counter measure 🤣 I also especially loved Ibuki’s mum and her VK shrine and open-hearted support of iCil.

I also really liked all the bits of trivia about religion and the different ways words and terms were interpreted by humans and angels. The number and type of bonus chapters were also really nice.

In hindsight, I suppose the angel’s efforts to be idols was too slow paced. But I really liked the slice-of-lifey bits, especially when it meant that they accidentally crossed paths with the demons (they get way too much Uber Eats LOL). I don’t really know much about idols and idol groups, should they have focused on music or dancing a bit more than the normal social media influencer stuff?

The only thing (person?) I didn’t really like in the series was Lucifer. He was creepy enough even Ibuki’s mum didn’t like him LOL.

The art in this series was really good, and I feel like the sense of humour really resonated with me. I hope Kouzuki-sensei starts a new series soon. No guarantees that the title will be so hilariously localised though 😂
