What I Liked
- Learning about film-making
- How all of Shinichi’s friends pooled their talents to make The Shore
- Himeki building friendships
- The art is great as expected
Where I Think Things Went Wrong
- Tenmaku wrote the script then ended up not really doing much. Felt like a waste of the ghost set-up
- Did we ever find out how he died???
- Woulda been cooler if Shinichi/the movie club had a girl member or more
- They rushed through the friends a bit so they didn’t end up being that memorable.
- There was potential for Himeki’s director to be more of a mentor
- I think it would have been great if Shinichi ended up going to a performing arts/media high school and met other high schoolers who were super passionate about their individual film aspect.
Conclusion
I really liked this despite it’s wasted potential. I’ll definitely buy the digital tankobon 🙂 Looking forward to the next work from this duo!
