Moon Flower Empress’s Crossing – Quilt Cover

Main Fabric: Bernatex Moon Flower

Filler Fabric: Riley Blake Confetti Cottons Vanilla

Backing Fabric: Ecosa bamboo topsheet

Quilting: Stitch in the ditch

A project resulting from the combination of a fat quarter bundle I bought cos I loved the prints and a red/white/black quilt I saw on a quilting blog. The original quilt was called Kings Crossing, so since I used oriental themed fabric, that makes this an Empress’s Crossing instead.

I think it’s probably too busy. There’s probably a reason the original quilter used (almost) solids.

Because I had multiple prints, I had to optimise the design to match what fabric I had. Which meant fabric orientation was actually important. Which meant despite the simple design, I had to unpick A LOT because I got the orientation wrong SO MANY TIMES. It wasn’t a very relaxing project 😅

Since we are uncultured people we don’t use a topsheet, so used the one from a bedding set to create a quilt cover. I like it when everything matches, it’s nice to have my pillows, sheets and quilt all feel the same 😊 Also helps give me an excuse to piece more quilt tops 😝
