Another entry in the Chinese Imperial Harem genre 😝
Things I Like
- Shuka’s appearance and how it presents a different obstacle to the usual commoner trope (although she has that to deal with too)
Things That Could Be Improved
- Definitely has the least impressive art of all the other series I’ve read in this genre
- Rehashes similar concepts to other series in a less appealing way
- It’s not fun watching Shuka get bullied. At least Mao Mao fought back with words or at least didn’t care.
Verdict
This series isn’t bad but all the different aspects are done better in other series on Manga UP:
- Intrigue in the imperial harem – Apothecary Diaries
- Life in the inner court – The Emperor’s Caretaker
- Medicinal knowledge – Apothecary Diaries
- Magic and familiars and investigation for a member of the royal family – The Prince’s Keeper
So I don’t feel like this series brings anything new to the table.
