Book Review: The Art of Theft

My expectations for this were too high. I had pegged it as the Victorian mystery series where I wouldn’t have to read through characters waxing overly lyrical about the attractiveness of the love interest, but I was wrong. Granted, this time it was the guy mooning over the girl, so a slight twist on the trope, but still kinda annoying to me.

I found it hard to go along with some of the things that happened in this novel. For starters, a lord of England breaking and entering and trawling through the mud just felt too bizarre. The fact that they went along with the request to ‘steal’ the artwork even though it was physically impossible and banking on stealing the blackmail material instead felt very convenient/lucky.

What I did like was Olivia playing a more active role.

Something I was hoping for was some involvement from their half brother. Maybe next novel.

Also maybe next novel Charlotte and Ash can work out some arrangement that will make all of us happier….
