Felt like I only started reading it ☹️
This was my most highly anticipated manga ever since I read about it winning awards. It took a while for it to come over, but it was always just a matter of time. I guess that’s why it feels like it’s ending so soon.
I think the format of the first volume was amazing, the way it slowly set up the scene via interviews. I’d say it managed to keep up the intrigue for the majority of its run. There was a part where I wasn’t really following though, when the little girl appears but you aren’t told her background yet. And it did feel less compelling once you knew who their father was, this was probably the point where it stopped being my favourite manga (it got overtaken by The Holy Grail of Eris) but it was still very interesting.
The series was strongest with the self-contained arcs like the drama, reality show and the play. But I did enjoy the way it delved into different aspects of the entertainment industry and also how they ‘followed up’ on the people from their past lives.
Of course, the art was amazing and the humour was good too. I was fine with the ending, it was thematic and a happy ending would have felt weird.
I am buying this series as the physical volumes come out but I will wait til it’s complete to do a reread. Hopefully the parts that were confusing to me will make more sense in a big back to back read.
