Planning and Design
I was very fond of the S-Blast ’91 and associated outfit in early 2024. The sweater felt like it would make perfect loungewear and I had been looking at the Style Arc pattern and they seemed like a good fit.
I know there is an official version of this sweater but I was a bit taken aback when I saw the photos. The print is so crisp. I’m so used to it looking like a fuzzy mess in-game lol. Well the nice thing about making your own clothes is you can adjust things to your preference 😝 So I took the design and put an effect on it to make it blurry. I probably should have removed the little signature bit at the bottom because the printable HTV I use does leave a bit of an outline but it’s not a big deal.
Materials
- Fabric
- Cotton Terry Knit Melange Grey (Homecraft Textiles)
- Ribbing Fabric Melange (Light) (Homecraft Textiles)
- HTV
- Neenah JET-PRO®SofStretch™ Lightwear Heat Transfer Paper
Construction
Pretty straightforward construction. The hardest bit was the pockets but I had practice with the first Fenix Sweater so didn’t have any issues.
Reflections
I feel like sometimes this sweater doesn’t sit very well depending on the top I wear underneath. I guess the silhouette is on the slim side so if I wanted a slouchy look (like the image on the pattern) I should size up one. But it’s still comfy and the placement of the pockets is really good. It looks really good as long as I wear something slim fit underneath.
Things I learnt:
- When using the light HTV vinyl, make sure the background is transparent
