Proving that I have a soft spot for sports manga 🤣

I have zero interest in bikes or riding them. And until my husband picked up cycling I didn’t even realise that it was a team sport (we only started watching Yowamushi Pedal after he got into cycling). I think Matsumoto did a much better job at showcasing these aspects, as well as managing to cover other types of cycling too, in an engaging way through the challenges. Plus diving into the different mentalities. One case where I’ll accept winning via willpower 😝
I think it was also really good that it wasn’t 100% cycling focused with the investigation into the mastermind occurring alongside the escape game. I was fine with the final reveal, it tied everything together neatly. I wasn’t expecting to be able to sleuth it out myself since this wasn’t the kind of story where they lay out the clues if you are so inclined to try and join the dots.
I appreciated that once he had ‘fought’ his future teammates, they kinda sped through the rest of the challenges. The only bit I would have liked more coverage on was when/how/why Kira joined the gang. I can infer why but it would have been nice to see the interaction between him and Matsumoto.
I also really enjoyed the cooking side stories (better than Set and Forget LOL) as well as the romance (?) subplot between the two stalkers of the unaware detective haha.
So all in all a very satisfying package 👍
