Waiting for the Sunlight: 10 Chapter Test

A very sad story 🄲

Things I Like

  • Yo-chan is so sincere and hard-working
  • The fight to retain ceramics making skills
  • The concerns and actions of children who have to grow up during wartime
  • Exploration of the different attitudes to war
  • How the narration gives context to the events of this story against the greater timeline of the war

Things That Could Be Improved

  • NA

Verdict

I think this is a very well written story, especially since it covers wartimes. I feel like it can be hard to get the tone right. I suppose it’s a bit easier when it’s through the innocent eyes of a child.

I feel like these types of stories are important. So that fortunate people like me can partially understand what people living in wartime have to go through. And how much war can change a generation ā˜¹ļø Some effects of war are obvious but others, like how one adult despairs for the education levels of the children, are less obvious/focused on.
