That’s 3/3 for Amano-sensei!
Man this series was so fun. Once I accepted (very early on) that the motives for the murders were going to be absurd and the methods, ridiculous, I could sit back and fully enjoy this haha. I love how all the characters are pretty clueless as well. So much fun.
I think the case that encapsulates this series the best is the cafe poisoning one LOL. I think I will never forget the details of that one (I’ll admit that I have forgotten the finre details of a lot of the cases, which means I can re-experience the nonsense all over again 😝)
I’m very impressed by how many attractive character (designs) Amano-sensei can come up with. Although tbh, I totally thought Winter was a guy (very Gokudera vibes) for a very long time. Finding out she was a girl just made her even cooler. Btw, were they hinting at Winter being interested in Amamiya in that last chapter?
I also (for some reason) never questioned that Ron’s dad was dead. So I was a bit surprised when he showed up. The reason for Ron figuring out his identity (the stew) was hilarious and so on brand for the series. Toto accidentally triggering realisations in Ron, truly the best partner a detective could ask for 🤣
I also thought it was pretty amusing how Amano-sensei let Ron have half a chapter to be emo over Toto ‘dying’ 😂 And how Kei knew Toto was alive but didn’t tell Ron to troll him. I mean, that’s a pretty sadistic troll, but on point for the characters in this series 😁 I should probably be annoyed I don’t know the fate of Alice, but I kinda feel like it doesn’t matter haha. The final reveals and ending would probably annoy a lot of people but I just found it so entertaining.
I mean it essentially went: Hey Ron, bet you never knew your dad was actually alive all this time only for me to make you accidentally kill him HAHA! > Wanna guess why I murdered heaps of people and toyed with your life? Because your Daddy rejected my mum and she whinged to me when I was just a baby! > Oh wait Ron Daddy isn’t dead? > Oh wait Ron Daddy never killed anyone, they were all just dumbasses who killed themselves? > Oh wait Ron Daddy didn’t even know my mum? > Quick, subject change, meteor shower time ie time for all of us to die! 🤣 The only series ending that comes close in terms of lol-ness is Mashle’s continental kick hahahahaha.
If anything, I kinda wish we could have met Ron’s mum. Or learnt about how his parents met. Maybe it would be an extra in a tankobon? Man I wish this would get released in English. I know it would be digital only, but elDLIVE got released and I like this one more 🙁 I guess I just have to wait for Amano-sensei’s next series for more pretty people doing ridiculous things 😊
