My sister-in-law asked my mum to mend some second-hand school skirts she bought for my niece, but my mum doesn’t live in Perth anymore so it ended up at my house since I’ve got all the gear. I usually hate mending but it’s not so bad when I have help haha. I appreciate that I have a mum that I can say ‘look up what foot to use on a Janome Skyline S6 for a blind hem’ and not get a blank stare 🤣 And someone to share the unpicking task with…
This was a different mending job to usual as I actually learnt some new things. Namely how to do a blind hem and how to use the buttonhole foot to do a darning stitch. For the blind hem, we looked up a couple of YouTube videos but what actually made it click for me was Seamwork’s guide. I really am a text over video learner. The darning stitch I learnt from my manual lol.
