It’s actually kinda getting a bit overwhelming now!
New Series
I think these ones are going to be pretty big/have broad appeal
Drama Queen is totally gonna be the next Chainsaw Man ‘human drama’ haha. And War of the Adults has such a good premise and humour. I can see it getting both an anime and drama. The others probably won’t have as broad appeal but they all have something going for them. The Plain Salary Man Turned Out to Be a Hero: He Was Invincible, Only to Be Exposed on His Niece’s Dungeon Stream has a cooler middle-age protagonist than Kafka from Kaiju #8 with the whole game and livestreaming set-up. Home on the Horizon is just super touching. Kami Kill apparently comes from a well-established mangaka and is very intriguing.

I really like these but don’t know if other people would
People who liked Thermae Romae will like Thermae Romae Redux, it probably isn’t aimed at new readers anyway (although I am one of them I was interested in the original, it just was never made easily available in English). The Empty Real Cabinet is head-spinning political intrigue, I bet it would make a lot of people’s eyes glaze over lol. Not that I can claim to be following the machinations all that well personally… Darkest Corners of the Heart is really good but takes a bit to get started (very episodic) so I can see a lot of people dropping it. Aliens, Baseball and Civilisation nerds out on both the science and baseball fronts so I can see it not appealing to many people 😅

I enjoy these but they aren’t anything special
I feel like all of them pretty solid but not gripping.
- Night Light Hounds
- Asura’s Verdict
- Ryota Killed his Brother
- Magical Girls and Narco Wars
- Class of Brains

These are OK
I’ve gotten stricter and drop series at 10 chapters a lot faster now haha. So none in this category this year and I can probably remove it moving forward.
Ongoing Series
- Blue Exorcist – still the final battle…
- Chainsaw Man – I’m bored now. Bring back Asa!
- Choujin X – oh that wasn’t the final battle. But it’s actually gotten more interesting now. I did wonder about Queem.
- Dandadan – Momo having amnesia kinda sucks
- Ghost Reaper Girl – no new chapters again
- Gokurakugai – kinda just riding this one out now. I don’t hate it but I don’t particularly look forward to it either. I almost feel like I’m just keeping up because Tao is so badass LOL
- Kindergarten Wars – final arc!
- Make the Exorcist Fall in Love – hmm, it’s ok now
- MARRIAGETOXIN – also ok now but at least it’s still fun
- Seraph of the End: Vampire Reign – I’m starting to have trouble following
- SPY x FAMILY – I actually can’t recall any chapters that stood out…
- Centuria – one of my most looked forward to series
- Girl Meets Rock – also love this one
- The God Before Me – still hilarious
- The Days of Diamond – not really sure where this one is going now
- Catennacio – still solid
- Hope You’re Happy Lemon – decent relationship progression
- Monochrome Days – I like it but I think Dragon and Chameleon is the better manga series about making manga
- Hero Organisation – last year I said this was nothing special but now I think it will do pretty well LOL
- Ghost Fixers – I’m not really enjoying this to be honest
Series that Finished this Year
Woah 25 series. I guess I’ll try pick a top 5 🤣
- Ron Kamonohashi: Deranged Detective – here’s hoping 2026 brings a new Amano-sensei series
- Navigatoria – hoping for something new from this author!
- Blue Proustian Moment – thought it handled some pretty serious subjects quite well
- Waiting for the Sunlight – I feel like it was a very respectful tribute
- Kunigei – Okuni University Art Department Film Program – I seriously thought I was going to hate this and drop it at 10 chapters but it just kept getting better. Both the protagonist and rival were such assholes to begin with but the author did such a good job writing them I ended up feeling for them both.

Best of the One-Shots
I totally fell behind and had to do catch-up over the Christmas/New Years break. But I know what I need to do in 2026. I really enjoy reading the one-shots but I don’t like setting up the posts of them as I read. So I need to wait until the end of the month and set up the post for that month so I can just fill in the commentary as I read them.
Choosing six favourites so the gallery looks neat haha!
- Beyond the Screen – KEITO YANO
- Trapped in an Instant – SOTA TAGO
- Living Lock – KIRI GUNCHI
- Mu Ex-Girlfriend Became a Spirit Medium – NATSUME UMEMOTO
- Spirited Cake Shop – TAIKI MIYAZAWA
- Mee-chan’s Secret – HONA KASHIMA
