Talk about an ending ruining a series…again
It was a pretty uncomfortable premise to begin with…suicide, plus showcasing how horrible people can be…via middle schoolers. But the format was good (focussing on a different student’s note, one by one) and it did seem reflective (the students did seem to feel bad about their actions/behaviour). Although of course there was a lot of finger pointing and blame shifting as well.
The gradual unravelling of the questions about who was responsible (and the reveal of how it was multiple people acting independently of each other) was interesting. And Ikenaga’s interest in Hatsukaichi was kinda cute. Ikenaga’s connection to Himekawa was also quite realistic and believable.
I was also pretty ok with the first part of the final chapter where the class tries to change but fails (also realistic). But I didn’t like the final reveal that Hatsukaichi was pretty much a psychopath.
So after Beauty and the Feast and Can’t Stop Cursing You, that’s three Manga UP series with endings that were not great š£ I’m a bit disappointedĀ tbh.
