Other Highlights/Notes
- I read a lot less books than 2023 (39) because I reached September or so and realised I had 1000+ saved articles in Inoreader…whups. So I spent a couple of months catching up on those instead haha.
- I started getting quite bored of the later entries in a lot of the romance/mystery series I follow. Veronica Speedwell, Cleopatra Fox, Lady Sherlock, A Secret, Book and Scone Society…. Kinda getting down on the genre…
- I read quite a few recommended books and I can’t say I liked many of them much, they were all kinda too depressing.
So I’ve decided I need to structure my reading a bit more 😝 I want to start reading/re-reading more light novels. And I don’t want a huge backlog of news articles to read LOL. I also realised I need to stop ‘saving for later’ books of series I really like (because I don’t want them to end). There are plenty of good series out there, so I need to read what I already have started so I can discover the other series out there ❤ So no more dragging out Temaraire, Kingsbridge and Robin Hobb. So my plan for 2025 will be something like this:
- Read a fantasy novel
- Read a light novel
- Read a mystery novel
- Make sure every 5th book is from a series I really like (to keep my motivation to read up by trying to avoid getting unlucky and reading multiple duds in a row)
- Read a recommended/out of comfort zone book every 10 books
- Don’t start a new novel unless my news article save list is less than 10….
- Read news articles in my saved list during my lunch breaks when I’m in the office (and books when I’m WFH)
Guess this means I better download the Kindle App onto my Boox/phone and start buying light novels digitally 🙃
