This ending came as a bit of a shock, tbh.

What I Liked
- The art 😍
- The way Chiyo’s different body parts had different powers
- Chiyo’s ‘nasty bug!’ and imagining Kou and Huazi as bickering cats
- Chiyo’s chibi owl form
- Big female cast
Where I Think Things Went Wrong
- Are Chinese themed settings not popular in Weekly Shonen Jump? I can’t think of a successful one.
- Kou not really having powers of his own
- Maybe Chiyo’s 180 from god of war to caring companion didn’t resonate with people?
Conclusion
I thought this one was solid so I was super surprised when it ended. Kou and Chiyou were likeable and it was obvious that Huazi was going to soften towards them a little bit. Huazi and Kou’s interactions in the final chapter were fun (the height bit haha). I felt the quest to find Chiyou’s body parts had enough structure to give an overall goal while still allowing for flexibility on their journey. And Chiyo was just honestly really fun. The art was super nice, I hope the mangaka gets another chance soon.
