Since Manga Plus is now doing all one-shots and even bulk dropping back catalogue chapters I actually barely read Manga UP anymore. But I do enjoy a lot of the series on it. The stories are all very different from Manga Plus and the art is (almost) ALWAYS nice 🤣
New Series
Oh wow, only two new series this year? I think they are both high quality though.

Completed Series
I really miss Living With My Brother’s Wife. I also really liked Even Monsters Like Fairytales. Most of the other series were quite short (with the exception of Suicide Notes Laid on the Table).

Continuing Series
Action (6)
- Daemons of the Shadow Realm – Still as good as ever
- Dragon and Chameleon – slowed down a bit but still fun
- Nia Liston the Merciless Maiden – probably my current favourite series on Manga UP, probably helped by how it gets fairly regular updates
- The Newbie Princess Doesn’t Want a Game Over – glacial updates are stifling the momentum of the story
- Reto the Protector – I’m finding it hard to keep track of the alliances
- The Red Ranger Becomes an Adventurer in Another World – this is pretty solid
Romance (14)
- Proud to be the Villainess – the format of this series is so interesting
- The Otaku Love Connection – very cute kinda reminds me of Horimiya a bit but with an otaku spin
- On and Off: Work Life Balance – I might drop this to buy the tankobon instead
- How I Attended an All Guys Mixer – wow progress in the relationships 🤣
- Smoking Behind the Supermarket With You – surprised at how often this gets updated. I like how it’s going into their pasts a bit more
- Always A Catch – the latest arc was really good
- From Superfan to Stepsister – damn, well you tried Akato
- The Ice Guy and His Cool Female Colleague – I don’t mind the focus on the sister
- My Happy Marriage – nice that Mio is gaining some confidence
- Cherry Magic! Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make You A Wizard? – I was expecting this to wind down but they’re actually introducing a new challenge instead
- My Clueless First Friend – surprisingly just keeps going
- The Emperor’s Caretaker: I’m Too Happy Living as a Lady-in-Waiting to Leave the Palace – slowed down quite a lot which is a shame, it’s gotten interesting politically
- Rooming with a Gamer Gal – my go to when I need to use up remaining 40UP.
- Lofty Flower Fall For Me – I read this on Crunchyroll but it’s fun to reread
Did these even get any new chapters? (6)
- Fake it to Break It! – this feels like it’s going to be a short series, so why drag it out so much 🙁
- The Girl I Like Forgot Her Glasses – it’s so close to the end…
- Wandering Witch – this might have gotten chapters but I’m probably behind anyway
- YanOta: The Delinquent and the Otaku – back on hiatus I guess
- The Gender of Mona Lisa – I’m going to assume this is actually finished even though it’s not marked as such on Manga UP
- Reincarnated as a 15-Year-Old Queen: I’m an Ex-office Worker, but the Young King Is Interested in Me?! – another year of no chapters…
Low priority (5)
- Blast of Tempest – I should just finish reading this now that all chapters are available
- Talentless Nana – I’m also behind on this, but I kinda don’t really feel that motivated to read it. Maybe I’ll give it a solid shot once it’s finished and all chapters are available.
- Even the Elf Captain Wants to be a Maiden – I think this is ending soon?
- A Man and His Cat – It’s touching but I’d rather read Rooming with a Gamer Gal instead
- Ubel Blatt – at this rate I might just drop this
Conclusion
I’m not so bothered by how slow the updates are now that I’m focusing mostly on Manga Plus haha. It is nice when I do come back to be able to read a bunch of chapters in a row (well, as much as the UP system allows). And some of the newer series which are on the shorter side actually get all the chapters released in a decent pace.
Also, by dragging out series I end up rethinking buying the tankobons and saving money LOL. Thinking Smoking Behind the Supermarket With You, The Girl I Like Forgot Her Glasses and The Ice Guy and His Cool Female Colleague. So good job SQEX!
