Verdict
I don’t really know what to say about this one. It has the same issue that I have with a lot of isekai – the whole modern people are more scientifically advanced than the world the character travels to and so becomes a sort of ‘hero’ because of what is now considered ‘common sense’. This one takes it even further in that the new world is full of ‘animal’ people and they really feel like they are being presented as ‘inferior’ due to their animalism. This especially comes across in the parts which are probably meant to be humorous, but instead it feels like reminders that the inhabitatants are ‘just animals’ at their core… But at the same time, everything comes across as super dry and serious. So the juxtaposition of Hitoshi being put on trial and then all the animals sniffing his farts is just…really odd to me. There wasn’t anything I liked about this series, but I also have no suggestions for what would make it more entertaining for me because I think I’m just put off by the actual premise… 🙁
