Manga UP: I Got Pregnant With His Majesty’s Child -A Biography of Queen Berta- Chapters 1-12 Review

Wow…that felt like an abrupt ending. Good thing they noted it was an adaptation of the first volume of some novel on the last page, otherwise I would have felt very confused.

I was enjoying this series because it seemed like Berta was playing a slow, patient, political game. But in the end the first Queen essentially self-sabotaged herself and it felt like Berta didn’t really do anything at all, and then it was essentially over. It really was just an introduction, except I have no idea if they will adapt anymore.

Once I got over how abruptly it finished, it got me thinking that this fast pace isn’t bad…if they were to continue on and follow pretty much her entire life. It would be nice to see future frictions/collaboration between the royal palace and the Kasia, as well as follow Louis grow up, and the challenges he (and Berta) would face.

I quite liked the art, so I’m not sure if I would want to read the novels (if they were translated) instead. I guess I enjoyed it while it lasted and while it ended much faster than I was expecting, I wasn’t super invested in the story and am content to move onto other things.
