Whale Shark Backpacks!

This was a present for a friend’s 5yo son. I rmb him telling me how his son was fascinated with deep sea creatures and would always ask ‘and which fish does this one eat’ 😝 So when my mum’s friend gave me a quilting magazine with a pattern for a fish pencil case I thought ‘I could make that and put a little fish plushie inside’. Which evolved into ‘why stop there? let’s make a shark bag to put the pencil case in too!’. Which then turned into ‘let’s make an adult sized one for my friend for the lolz as well’.

After around 20 years of sewing this is the first time I’ve used a hump jumper. Better late than never I guess.

It was very cute watching my friend’s son realise that there were multiple things inside each other. It was a bit funny cos he was wearing a shark t-shirt so I asked if he liked sharks and he said ‘not really’ but then after receiving his present he told me he really liked it. Phew!
