This is a scrappy project that got out of control 😅 The scraps were from a couch cover quilt I made for my Nan-in-law and looking at them made me think of the Ace Attorney gang. I knew there was pixel art out there for the franchise, so used that as the base for some quilting designs. I had recently heard of fusible quilters grid interfacing so wanted to give that a shot. Doing the front design was easy 😊 Then I realised I hadn’t thought about the back at all lol.
I did know however, from previous cushion covers, that I needed to put a zip on the back in order to get the look I was after. I had also tested By Annie’s Soft and Stable and knew I wanted to use that too. The only thing…the cushions are so big (they had to be because of my design) it was going to be expensive…So it took a long time for me to finish the project.
I did end up getting a zipper jig because I got so annoyed trying to put the zipper tabs onto the zipper tape. I do like how you can sew through By Annie’s zips but it definitely isn’t as easy to put the tabs on as she makes it seem in her video. Although kinda lost track of progress and actually already had prepared on the zips before I bought it 😣 Which meant I also bought an extra zip I didn’t need. Oh well, future me will be glad it exists when I end up using it on a different project 😋
Another set back I had was I bought one cushion insert to test, but when I bought the other three I got the wrong size 😅 And I can’t math so the size of Soft and Stable I ordered wasn’t enough so I had to order some more of that too.
Because I took so long to complete this project, I swear IKEA started cheaping out on the filling and so the later three cushions feel less poofy than the original (Gumshoe’s) 🤔
I am very pleased with how these turned out but the process wasn’t exactly enjoyable or memorable in a positive way and they are pretty damn big LOL. But comfy to lean against which I play games or read on the couch 😁 Which is all that really matters I guess.
