Things I Like
- It sure moves quickly
- Interesting plays and strategy
- Tsubasa’s mum is pretty fun haha
Things That Could Be Improved
- I find it hard to accept that elementary schoolers are playing at this level 😅
- I know it’s a convenient origin story (more like situation) but Tsubasa almost getting hit by a truck when he was little just made me think that’s pretty bad parenting…
- None of the characters actually have any sort of personality
Verdict
I would have tried this series anyway but the limited time free access got me reading it faster than I usually would. To be honest…not really feeling it so far. In terms of soccer plays, Giant Killing is much more interesting. And there are a couple of soccer manga on Manga Plus atm (my personal rating would be Catennacio, Emberzm Ashi Dribbles Through then Captain Tsubasa) not to mention sports in general (Dogsred is the best imo LOL).
I don’t know if it’s a time period thing, but almost all sports series nowadays are about personal relationships and improvement. I can’t recall any where the main character was OP from the get-go. I’m guessing the real story starts when Tsubasa gets to highschool. So will give it another 10 chapters. But atm it isn’t looking like I will be binging this series or paying for the highest subscription tier to read it.
