Not as weird as Handsome Must Die but still good!
I can definitely see the art improvement from Handsome Must Die. The plot is just as deranged, but it didn’t quite hit the hilarious highs of HMD. It was also the kind of plot that made me think that this wouldn’t be a very long series (and I was correct). That’s fine, I’m looking forward to whatever nonsense Ashima-sensei comes up with next 😝
Kinda funny that the best character was Sabbath the Pigeon LOL. It’s really hard to not compare this to HDM, but I feel the characters were more endearing in that than in Love Is Overkill. All the characters were a little bit annoying. Except for the parents. They were just funny.
So this was fun and it’s nice to see Ashima-sensei grow as a mangaka. One day they’ll hit the character/plot jackpot and I’ll get a longer ridiculous series to enjoy 🤣
