60th Birthday Badge

This was a quick project because my step-father-in-law was turning 60, but we couldn’t find a nice 60 card. So the original plan was to make a badge, punch holes in the card we did buy, and attach this like those other cards you can buy with the birthday badges. But I had two badge sizes, and the bigger one would be better, but it would be too big to attach to the card, so in the end we pinned it to the bag with his present. It actually looked quite good because the wrapping was black and gold and the bag was gold and black (matching prints, David Jones is good for somethings some times).

I was surprised how little gold HTV I have in my offcuts. I ended up using glitter HTV from one of the sample swatches I received a long long time ago. It was Siser though so it worked perfectly fine (almost). For the design, I made it up in Canva and cut it out with the silhouette. Pretty sure glitter HTV is only layerable as the top layer, so did my best to put the 60 in the middle of the fabric. And then the rosette went on top, although somewhere along the way (either the weeding stage or the removing carrier sheet stage) on of the corner pieces disappeared haha. I don’t think anyone noticed though 🙃

This was my first time using the Daiso badge kit. I did end up doing a running stitch along the outside so that I could pull the fabric around the badge part nice and tight. I tried using fabric glue, but I think I should actually use double-sided tape since it’s not like this is going to get washed. I used craft glue to apply the backing, but maybe super glue would be better. It lasted the night at least so that’s good haha.

This was a nice simple project that I managed to do in about 1 hour on the morning of the actual birthday party 😝
