Weekly Shonen Jump: Alien Headbutt Chapters  1-16 Review

Hmm, 16 chapters seems especially short?

Alien Headbutt

(Akira Inui)

February 2026 to May 2026

16 Chapters

What I Liked

  • I think the main character was likeable as was his childhood friend.

Where I Think Things Went Wrong

  • Relied too much on the reader already knowing about different pro-wrestling moves
  • Not enough information on the aliens early on. They seemed like they were non-intelligent, but that obviously wasn’t going to be the case.
  • So many siblings but I don’t remember a single one of them really. The goat stood out more 😅

Conclusion

I feel like this could have been really fun if it had been structured a bit differently and acted more as an introduction to pro-wrestling. For starters, the main character leaving and cutting ties with his family until he won the championship meant that when he has to go save them, there isn’t really any touching bond to rely on other than the fact that they are his family. I think it would have been more interesting if they had set things up so either family visited or provided advice/encouragement to him while he was working his way up the ladder, so that when he had to go rescue each one in turn, it would function as both a flashback and some explanation of how he came up with/mastered different moves. Maybe this is a bit trite, and maybe it wouldn’t have really worked anyway (Astro Royale…), but it would have made it more entertaining for me at least haha.
