Book Review: Solitaire

I usually don’t read coming-of-age young adult novels because I can never really relate, but Alice Oseman is different.

I have a friend who loves Heartstopper so I read a bit of the comic on Webtoon and commented that Tori seemed cool. So she ended up buying me the book as a Christmas present last year. And warned me it was depressing.

And it was, but kinda in a mundane way? Which made it all the more realistic. But I felt lied to by the ‘This is not a love story’ on the cover. I mean it kinda isn’t, but I was expecting more Radio Silence style friendship building.

The stuff about Solitaire wasn’t that interesting. But I did like Tori and Becky’s relationship and how things changed.

Now that I’ve read Radio Silence and this one I think I’m good for Alice Oseman books. Won’t be going out of my way to read anymore.
