Manga UP: The Girl I Like Forgot Her Glasses Chapters 1-110 Review

This might be my first middle school romcom?

Man Kaede is so cute haha. The way he berates himself to the point of conjuring up an imaginary future father-in-law. The way he overthinks how to word things and ends up using the worst option. The way he appreciates his mum.

It was very sweet watching Mie gradually cultivate a friendship, then a crush on Kaede. I feel like you could see how she gradually went from being a child with no interest in the other sex to a teenager. And the way she teased Kaede was super cute. I really wonder about the whole premise of this series sometimes though. As someone with bad eyesight, probably as bad as Mie, I don’t see how she could not realise that she had forgotten them LOL. I suppose she is a rather air-headed character, and sleepy too, maybe she sleep walked to school so that’s why she didn’t realise haha.

I found it quite interesting how Mie’s parents allowed Kaede to stay over even if they were in separate bedrooms. I guess I always thought parents would be more strict about those kinds of things? I liked how Kaede’s mum was cheering him on haha.

The side story about Azuma was sweet as well. I kind of wished there was a bit more about Kaede hanging out with his friends. And Mie with her friends as well.

I feel like the roll-out of chapters of this was so slow that I ended up taking a huge break between the first 70% and last 30%. I feel like I would enjoy rereading this again via tankobon. But it’s probably fairly low on my priority list (SQEX books are expensive…)
