Main Fabric: Scrappy Prima Homespun Cotton and Flutter
Filler Fabric: Pure cotton sheeting black (Homecraft Textiles)
Backing Fabric: Cotton stripe sheeting Bright Green (Homecraft Textiles)
Free-motion Quilting: Zig zag (as marked with a hera knife)
My husband requested a lap quilt that would actually cover his legs (he is tall) and he loves Metroid and I had scraps from the Pokemon cushions (turned into a not very useful shaped quilt)/Triforce Tessalation Quilt that this design immediately sprang to mind. Besides, after all the fancy blocks I have been doing I kinda just wanted to make a nice simple square block quilt 😅
Since it was his quilt I let him choose what free-motion design and he didn’t like any of the ones in my collection lol cos they were too flowery. So zig zag it was. I was a bit worried I wouldn’t be able to align the striped backing fabric to the quilt top in a way that wouldn’t make it very obvious if my zig zags didn’t match up well but I was careful and it turned out fine 😁
I was also worried about my thread choice (soft grey) since it was on the stark black but that also turned out well. It really is the most versatile colour for free-motion quilting.
I was lucky with the black fabric, had juuust enough. And I still have more Flutter scraps remaining 🤣 The fabric that just keeps on giving.
