Weekly Shonen Jump: Blue Box Chapters  1-250 Review

I guess even shonen romance isn’t really my thing.

Blue Box

(Kouji Miura)

April 2021 to July 2026

250 Chapters

This series was ok. It was one of those cases where the most interesting relationships were not the main couple. The ups and downs of Kyo and Ayame gradually falling in love did pull at my heart strings. And Haruto’s sincere efforts to woo Hina were also moving. Karen and Haryu were a nice example of a couple who respected each other’s goals. But Taiki and Chinatsu kinda didn’t have any issues or hardships or even cuteness? They were pretty bland.

I also did not care at all about the basketball or badminton matches. Maybe because they were too ‘normal’ as in not ‘sports manga like’ aka entertaining? I might have been interested if they showed Hina’s gymnastic matches tho haha. Also it got really corny at times. I guess I’m just too old and jaded to appreciate this manga.

To be honest the most memorable thing about Blue Box to me was the Witch Watch chapter where Taiki comes across as really dodgy haha. Much more interesting than the real character.

Good job on the manga for succeeding in Shonen Jump though. It’s good to have variety.
